The Veterinary Hospital is a support entity of the School of Veterinary Medicine of the UFMG focusing on teaching, research and extension linked to the four departments of the School. There are clinics for consultations, surgery rooms, image diagnostic sector, necropsy sector, kennels and stables for the hospitalization of small and large animals.
It is made up of the following sectors: Medical Clinic, Surgery Clinic, Pathology, Reproduction and Nursing Division. The hospital provides a range of services to the public, that may be seen on the service guide at the side.
Among the objectives of the hospital is support for the undergraduate and graduate teaching programs and research of the School of Veterinary Medicine and other UFMG entities, such as extension projects in the urban and rural communities. All the income acquired by the Hospital (through services to the public) is used in these actions. Therefore, the Veterinary Hospital is more than a partner, but a player in various projects by the school, providing material, structure and human resources (see the social projects guide at the side).
It also provides continued education and teacher training programs through recycling and improvement courses, assuring medical teaching in Veterinary Medicine and specialization in medical-veterinary residence and supports institutional development programs.
